Thomas de Angelis
MFA (Writing for Performance)
Thomas De Angelis is a playwright, whose recent works include Unfinished Works (Seymour Centre, 2016), The Worst Kept Secrets (Seymour Centre, 2014), and Jack Killed Jack (Sydney Fringe Festival, 2012). In 2017, Thomas was awarded the ATYP Rebel Wilson Scholarship, and developed Come On! The Lleyton Hewitt Musical as part of his residency. After graduating with a Bachelor Degree in Arts/Law, he attended NIDA in 2015 to study a Master Of Fine Arts (Writing For Performance). In 2016, Thomas attended the ATYP National Writers Studio at Bundanon, and his work was featured in the 2017 Voices Project Intersection at ATYP. Thomas was the dramaturg for Elfriede Jelinek’s Sportsplay (NIDA Director’s Productions, 2015) and The Cherry Orchard (New Theatre, 2016). He co-wrote the script for HeySorryGottaGoBye (Sydney Fringe Festival, 2016) and he is the co-creator and dramaturg for an original site-specific opera, Chamber Pot Opera (Queen Victoria Building, 2016), which toured to the Adelaide Fringe Festival in 2017, and then internationally to The Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2017. In 2018, Chamber Pot Opera will tour to St Petersburg as part of The International Summer Festival of The Arts.
