MFA (Design for Performance)
Sabina is a recent graduate of NIDA’s MFA (Design for Performance). Originally from Brisbane, she worked as an art historian and costume maker before moving to Sydney to study design.
Sabina graduated in 2016, and her NIDA production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream (directed by Iain Sinclair) won the APDG Award for ‘Emerging Designer for Live Performance’. Since then, she has worked as both a costume and production designer across film, TV, and theatre.
Recent credits include work as costume design assistant on Foxtel’s reboot of Picnic at Hanging Rock, production design for music videos by Australian artists such as Sheppard and Willow Beats, and costumes and sets for a number of independent short films, including Fitting (directed by Emily Avilla) which will screen at this year’s Sydney Film Festival. Sabina is inspired by both past and present forms of iconography and visual language, and enjoys making work that embraces the intersections between theatre, cinema and art.
