New Zealand Students

NIDA welcomes applications from New Zealand citizens. A New Zealand citizen is eligible to study in Australia and is not regarded as an international student.

New Zealand citizens pay the same tuition fees as Australian students. However, NZ citizens do not have access to FEE-HELP and must pay their tuition fees by the due dates each year.

The Australian Government has proposed changes to the eligbility criteria for FEE-HELP from 1 January 2015, subject to the passage of legislation. The changes will allow eligible New Zealand SCV holders to access FEE-HELP loans. For more information about this proposed change visit Study Assist.

For details of tuition fees, please refer to the fees tab of your chosen course.

New Zealand citizens are not required to hold a student visa for Australia. They must have a valid passport and will automatically be granted a Special Category Visa (SCV) on arrival in Australia. This is not a permanent visa, however it does allow the holder to remain and work in Australia lawfully as long as that person remains a New Zealand citizen. For more information on entry to Australia see the Australian Department of Immigration and Boarder Protection.
